Sheet Metal Materials
Wesgar fabricates custom precision products using aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and copper. We match materials precisely to customer engineering drawing requirements, and we are happy to provide mill and test certificates when required. If matching material requirements results in long and/or unacceptable lead times, our product support team may recommend alternative material options that will meet or exceed your specified requirement.
Aluminum sheet
- Thicknesses range from 0.032” to 0.250” (thinner or thicker material is available, but subject to processing requirements)
- Most commonly used aluminum sheet is 5052-H32. Its properties are ideal for forming, welding, machining, and it displays good strength at a reasonable cost
- Most 2024, 6061, 7075 aluminums can be formed by Wesgar at the appropriate temper using recommended upper die radii, and then subsequently heat treated to the required properties by external service providers. Wesgar has a large selection of upper radius die sizes
Steel sheet
- Thicknesses range from 0.025” to 0.250” (thinner or thicker material is available, but subject to processing requirements)
- ASTM A1008, CS TYPE B
- Types of steel sheets include; galvanized, satin coat (galvanneal) and aluminized
Stainless steel sheet
- Thicknesses range from 0.025” to 0.187” (thinner or thicker material is available, but subject to processing requirements)
- 304 / 304L and 316 / 316L 2B and #4 finishes are the most common types but most types can be purchased and fabricated as required
- Forming, welding, and in-line finishing requirements will be discussed at the quoting stage
Copper sheet
- Thicknesses range from 0.027” to 0.188” (thinner or thicker material is available, but subject to processing requirements)
- ASTM B152 grade Copper 110 (C11000) is our most commonly used copper alloy
- Soft and varying hardness coppers are available depending on processing requirements
Material details
All materials are purchased to the ASTM specification requested on the customer engineering drawings and/or purchase order. Material substitutions or changes require your approval before fabrication commences.
Machine shop capabilities
Wesgar’s machine shop has the capability to machine all the materials and sizes listed above, plus plate or bar form in thicker sizes depending on your requirements
